Ok i have a 29 gal biocube and just currently added a sump underneath!!
I drilled the back of the tank so i could run an overflow that way instead of having a big ugly overflow box hanging on the back!!
I used a 3/4" bulkhead with 3/4" PVC running down to the sump!!
example: This picture explains what i have done except the pipe on the bottom doesnt go at a 45 degree angle, instead i used a 90' and went in the stand then used another 90' and went down to my sump!!

My question is:
when the water goes in the inlet part it does just fine but when the water goes down to my sump it creates big gulping type bubbles instead of calmy flowing into the sump.
I dont know wether my 3/4" line isnt large enough for my return pump or whats going on!! The PVC line is submerged into the sump but ive seen many that way!!
WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE haha!!!
Thanks for everyones comments in advance!!!
please let me know how to fix this problem???

actually the 3/4 is to large and gurgling is caused by the air that is used to make up for the lake of water, it will get better as the slim build up in the line. you can put a valve in the end of the line if you have one, or a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer. But be carefull if you have only one return and you tune it perfect, you could have problems if any thing gets in that line.

Going to a reducer will actually cause gurgling sound to worsen

Jerremy if you look at my build thread I actually went bigger diameter at the 45.

So it went 1" then at the 45 it jumps to 2" gurgling is caused from the water hitting that 45 and doing a whirlpool effect in there. If you make it bigger you get no restriction.

Look on my build thread half way down you will see the durso I made and a video I did of the dry run plumbing is quiet

Kuyatwo thanks for the advice (and nice setup you gave by the way). Before I had any responses to my post I went ahead and tried sizing up to 1". Flow and sound is tons better except there is still a slight gurgle at the bottom so I'm gonna take your advice and move up to 1 1/4" or maybe 1 1/2" if I have room.. Give me your advice on this, what if I put another tee in place of the last 90 that drops down?? In order to get air before the water takes it's last plunge.
