As the title says, I need some care info on this coral. I usually never buy something that I dont know how to care for, but Saltwater Paradise had one I could not pass up on. I have done searches and have only come up with pictures, no info. Heres a pic!

That looks similar to one that Weatherson has. Try emailing him from www.weatherson.com and see if he has any advice.

Whatever you learn, you might post it here in this thread to provide some answers for your loyal readers. :)

I wish I had more information and a better long-term predictions for you but I don't. I feed my tank plenty of micro food (cyclopese, freeze-dried phytoplankton, zooplankton, daphnia and oyster eggs) in addition to frozen foods but still lost mine. Like most others I've attempted to keep, they are healthy in appearance for a month or two but eventually start to decline and eventually perish. The only type I've had long term sucess with is the purple whip which still grow in my tank. My original hope when I purchased my blue gorgonian was that the latest foods available at that time would be able to keep it alive. Needless to say, that wasn't the case.

Here's some info that may help you with your new acquisition:

Thanks for the feedback Joseph. That is not the news I was hoping to get, but at least I know what I am up against. By the way, you have a beautiful tank!

If at least I got you more motivated to do all you can to ensure the health of this creature, I am pleased. ;) Thanks for the compliment.

Dean I guess you are pretty much finding this out by now, but those type of gorgonians are pretty hard to keep alive too long. Since they rely totally on food they get out of the water, they tend to starve in most tanks. The trick is to find some type of food that you can add to the water that the gorgonian will catch and survive on. Since you have to add that type of food, whatever you decide on, then you start dealing with the breakouts of unwanted algaes due to the extra nutruients now in the tank.
I would try a self made mixture of food items that you blend into a very fine mix with a blender. In fact I have some stuff (Golden Pearls) you could add to the mix, along with some Cyclop-eeze and other stuff that you might find in a good home made coral food mix. Then maybe target feed the gorgonian with a turkey baster when you see that polyps extended. You might have to try feeding when the lights are on as well as when they are out. That is a very nice gorgonian, maybe you will be one of the lucky ones that can keep one.
