Need help with our clam

We rescently got our first clam for our tank and we would just like to know if there is a way to tell if the lighting is too strong or not strong enough or if its just right for where we have it located at.

Is there any general rule of thumb for placement of them.
It's a gold maxima clam that measures about 3" long
Here's a pic of it now

It's roughly 8" below our true lumen strip of LED's that are a mix of blue and 12k diamond white and I also have two blue true lumen moon lights and 4 T-5 lights that are one 12k wave point 2 actinic blue wave point and an O-3 violet wave point. All the T-5's are at most 2 months old.
Thanks for any advice

I always like to target feed phyto to my clams when I first get them for a few months. If it was too much flow the clam would move on its own. I have a maxima almost near the top on my shelf rock and I have a dersea clam that is on my sand bed. I have moved it under a shaded area and within a couple days it moved back out into the light.

You can't over-light a maxima clam. If it came from poor lighting or a tank with bad parameters I'd start it out low and slowly move it up but I don't think your lighting is too strong to worry about. Clams can close if they get too much light.

Yeh we found out today from someone much more knowledgable what is going on.
We didn't know that it was eating when it did what it was doing. We thought it was attempting to move when it was pumping or pulsing but when it's not pulsing it's fully opened.
Only reason I questioned it was cause where we got it from they had it about a foot or maybe even a little more from there lighting that is identical to mine and where we have it at its about half the distance from the LEDs as it was there.
Thanks for the all the replies
