need help growing coraline algae

What are the best conditions for growing coraline algae. My Ph is around 8 and haven't. Just started my tank a week ago so ammonia is rising. I haven't tested anything else. What about light I have a single 48 inch florresent light. Dose it require a special light

Here is the water conditions I found when researching exact same thing. Having these conditions overall makes for healthy tank. The coraline I a slow grower. Give it plenty of calcium, sting light and time.

SG apx 1.024
Calcium -350 to 480 ppm Carbonate Alkalinity -Between 2.5 and 4.0 meq/L (7-12 dKH)
Strontium
Low Phosphates (Close to Zero)
Low Nitrates (5 ppm or lower)

If you have actinics keep those on for alittle longer by them selves this light is what coralline algae likes not a really bright light

I didn't have any for several months after starting. After only a week and tank that is just starting to cycle with Amonia rising probably isn't going to have any for a while. I think you also need to "seed" it. I suspect it probably comes from adding rocks, water or corals from a tank that already has some.

depending on the size and conditions of your take, it could take a few months before it's cycled. Coraline algae wont grow until after the cycle.

It's going to take a while to get some growing in your tank. If you used live rock that has coralline on it, that will help as it is like seeding your tank. It will grow on pumps and fittings first, and later on the glass. Scraping it off in the tank sprinkles shavings everywhere for it to land elsewhere and grow.

Then in the future, you can use Purple Up as another way to improve the growth rate. Since you are going through a cycle stage currently, it's time to sit on your hands and wait a while. There's no such thing as an instant reef.
