need help/advise with testing chillers

I am going to look at a used chiller this week how should I test it to be sure that it is working properly (no freon leaks) and what not

I was thinking about running it with a pump into a 5 gallon bucket with a heater for a good amount of time - not sure how long

If there are any problems how easy are they to fix

Hi,
I would ask the seller to set up something like a 30G rubbermaid container and have the chiller running at ~75* a few hours before you get there. When you are there there should be minimal, if any cycling of the compressor. That would be the best way I can think of to really test a used chiller. Getting these repaired/refilled can be costly unless you know someone or can do the work yourself. There is a member that offered up reduced rates for this type of thing. http://www.dfwmas.org/Forums/viewtopic.php?p=302123&highlight=#302123
