Need Chiller Suggestions for 215 Gallon

It hasn't even gotten hot yet, but my lights increase the temperature over 5-6 degrees when in use. Need Chiller for 215 Gal. (81 degrees when they come on....86 when they go off)

Any recomendations?

have you tried fans yet? you would be suprized how much they help. But if you are set on a chiller...From what i read on RC and other places Tradewind chillers are one of the best. I ordered mine last week and it was on my door step monday. I bought directly from Tradewinds and got a better deal then anything i could find online.

Do you have glass tops on?? Fans on the sump work quite well... but if you are considering a chiller consider teco, they are good units and local so if there are any problems they can get fixed with a good turn around. Just guessing, but a 1/2 Hp or 3/4 HP is what you'd want.

How much does your tank evaporate each day?

I've prob. put in about 8 gallons in the last two-three days.

Again.. Temp is around 82 all day until the lights come on then up to 86 with 10 hours of light.

I'd try the fans, but that temp is not good.. so a chiller is probably needed. Your evaporating at a pretty good rate so im not sure it will help that much, the fans that is. But give it a shot.

What temp does your tank get down too?

I have a 210 with 3 250 watt MHs running at about 10" off the water without a hood. I run a fan over the sump and 2 computer fans at each end of the tank on the back corners blowing toward the front middle. My temp never gets above 79.9 degrees. The house is kept at 75 degrees in the summer. My MHs are only run for 7 hours each.

You may want to try a shorter lighting period and fans. What temp is the house kept at? How many internal heat sources are you running, like powerheads and pumps? Is it possible your heater is set too high?

Think I have it taken care of...Fan over sump and 4 pc fans on hood.......I can get it however cold I want it now :)

Thanks
