I just took a pic but it will take a little while before I get a chance to post it. I recently noticed clear bubbles on my rock. They look like plain air bubble and when I reached to investigate them, they popped like regular air bubbles. Later on I noticed a pinkish red thin film like substance growing over the bubbles. Only over the bubbles. I have some on one rock and now I have some in blotches on my GSP. Anyone know what this could be and how to fix it? How do I remove it? I don't have any tests kits at this moment and haven't gotten the water checked recently, so I don't have stats on the tank.

Cyanobacteria.. export more nutrients / waste, or import less food.

Do you have a refugium set up? How often do you do water changes, and what percentage do you do?

I knew you'd post...thanks for coming to the rescue again! It's a 24 gallon aquapod and no I don't have a refugium. I do a 10% water change every week. Or 20% every two weeks, depends on how much time I have during the week. I can't just remove it from the rock myself by taking it out and scraping it off? Or will it just go away as water parameters change? Thanks

Well, you can siphon it off the rocks during water changes, but that doesn't address the root issue. I've even went to the extreme and dosed with chemi-clean in the past when it was so bad it was smothering corals. That doesn't fix the cause, either, just the symptom.

Were I you, I'd look at turning one of the back chambers into a fuge, or increasing frequency / amount of water changes- especially if you're not testing nitrates right now.

Here's one of Mo's post showing what he did.. http://www.dfwmas.org/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=28116&highlight=chamber

Thanks Ashlar.

Ok, please excuse the amateur question, I know I already asked about sumps and fuges in the past to understand them better, but how do I turn one of the chambers into a fuge?

No, that's a really good question, especially when talking about a nano. With a nano that has multiple chambers usually filled with filter media or ceramic rings, you can remove all that stuff and put some chaeto in there. Then strip off the back black plastic from a 'window' in that chamber, and mount a small light.

That post from Mo above gives a really good pic.
