Need advice on my new lighting

Please help…I can’t tell if Im giving too much light or too little.

My corals & GBTA have done really poorly since changing my lights from PC lights to Taotronics dimmable LEDs. First, the Nem crawled into a hole and died, then the few SPS frags I had wasted away. Even the mushrooms aren’t opening like they used to…nothing is!

Water params are good according to my API test kits (0 nitrates, 0 ammonia, high calcium, stable ph around 8.3).

In order to acclimate to the new lights I’ve been running the lights about 6 hours @ 40% for blues and lowest setting on whites for 4 hours a day (whites are pretty bright). I also get some sunlight in the tank during the day since its right by the window.

Could it be that the dead nem killed off the corals? I didn’t know he was dead in there, so I waited 2.5 days to pull it out. He’d been acting sickly for a while. Still, none of the coral looked very good after changing the lights. I cant tell if theyre getting too much light or not enough! Thanks for the advice!

A dead or dying anemone can wreck a tank. Id put in some fresh carbon and do a large water change.

What are the specs on your LED fixture?

I agree. How long did it take for the anemone to die. I would think if it was a light issue, you could have adjusted the light to make the anemone happy. I have seen anemone's crawl to the back of people's aquarium for a couple weeks before coming out. I would start looking at your tank parms as well.

Thanks! I changed 10 gal and put in new carbon up in the display
The LEDS are these one, linked below. They're two 120w fixtures
About 7" off the water surface. I wish I had a par reading but I haven't been able to get my hands on a meter yet.

I would raise the lights to about 10"-12" and start the blues some where about 50% and whites at 25%. Every week increase the intensity by 10% and end up with 85-90% blues and 45-50% whites baised on tank depth and optics. Good luck.
