NathanSE, Can I see more pics of your overflow setup ?

I have been following your thread on RC and I am doing similar setup with the calfo style overflow.

I do have a few questions though,

1. How did you setup the drain pipe behind the tank ? durso ?

2. You don't have a turn down elbow inside the overflow, how is the noise level in the tank ? Does it make any gurgling noise ?

3. How high is your water level in the overflow compare to the display tank level ? From what I can tell, it looks to be about 1" below te tank water level.

4. Can you give me dimension on your overflow, specifically the height and the width ?

5. Anything that you would do different if you were to start over again ?

thnaks again in advance..

1. External durso.

2. Yes, it does make some noise but not the loudest I've ever heard.

3. Correct, 1". It is not enough!

4. 24L x 4W x 4H IIRC - make sure you can fit your bulkheads!

5. Taller tank, 3" freeboard, three drains rather than two, LOTS more ball valves/true unions :)

I'll try to post pics in my thread soon. FYI, shooting me a PM or an email is a much better way to catch me - I just happened on this.

So you would make the water level higher in the overflow ? I'd imagine this will reduce the water splashing noise as it falls into the overflow.

Good, I wanted to do 4 x 4 but was afraid that it will be obstructing to the view. Yours looks great.

I may do another drain then, I only have 2 so far. What's 3" freeboard ?

Do all your drains merge into one before going into the sump ?

Thanks in advance
