Nano Tank Option?

Been looking at starting a tank again... its an addiction... no matter how long your out, it pulls you back in. I can only have a small tank due to being back in school. Let me know what you think of the lighting and the company if anyone has any information. My concern is that the lights will not be strong enough.

It looks great. I doubt the LEDs will grow any difficult corals, but you'll likely be fine with softies, fish and invertebrates. 6.5w just doesn't seem like it's going to cover an 8g tank well enough to grow corals. I have 120w over a 29g tank.

I contacted them about the lighting and have had no reply yet but will keep updated when I do. Thanks for the replies, and its good to hear that they are a good company to deal with.

Talked to these guys on the phone, and they seem like good people. They told me that the 8 gallon has 43-1W leds all running at 6.5W. The reason they gave me for doing this was to keep the light spread across the tank evenly. Each LED has its own reflector to direct the light into the tank more efficiently. He told me this tank should support any inhabitants including most varieties of sps corals. Not knowing much about LED lights I am looking to you guys for the expertise on that matter!?!? I hate to get into trial and error with expensive corals when I don't have to.

Some people are having good luck with the LED lights and SPS corals. I am still going to wait and see the long term effect of this lights. I can tell you that CADLights is one of the best nano tank companies. They are better then the Biocubes, JBJ, and Aquapods. Try to research nanoreef.com and reef central. There several CAD owners on those sites. I have never understood why none of the LFS carry these tanks.

People are having great success growing sps under LED's. In fact, most people are saying they are to bright during the switch over, so it's best to get some that are dimmable. I don't believe your lights will be your restricton, it will be the size of the tank. Sps typically need larger and more stable systems, so I would at least be looking at around 30 gallons. If you want easier corals like lps and softies, then you could definately go smaller.
Hope this helps,
