Nano Fish Recommendation

Now that I am runnning with a skimmer, I would like to consider adding 1 more fish to my 20gal nano. I current house a small gold striped maroon(will have to swap him when he gets larger), and a jawfish. I formerly had a pygmy cherub angel which I loved. However, the GSM is not the most docile guy so I was thinking something along the lines of a dottyback. Any suggestions out there for me?

I like the colors and fins of Royal Grama, but you'll need to find one taht is fiesty. Most tend to spend their time hiding if bullied. I lucked out and got one that keeps both a damsel and a Flame Angel in line.

That said, the Bicolor Dottyback/Pseudochromis is the same color, but with a harsh distinction between front and back (rather than a RGs fade), and they can have quite an attitude. However, they tend to be a little small, and if your jawfish is aggressive, he may become lunch.

You could also always go for a Wrasse, like a 6 Line. If you want more attitude, there are many very pretty Damsels out there, but you know how they are...

Awesome thread but I cant believe they put

-Green Mandarin Goby [with caution, not for beginners]
-Yellow Target Mandarin [with caution, not for beginners]

for a 20G tank even with the "Not for Beginners" I would feel sorry for that fish :(

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but from the various replies and different threads I understand that Mandarins can live quite happily in a 20g SO LONG AS you are supplementing live pods because no matter how much rock you have you'll never have enough.

Well that would be totally awesome. :) not trying to bust yer cajones or anything just saw that. I am kind of worried that that isn't said in the post though.

No, not at all, just making sure I was correct in my thinking as there is a lot of bad info out there. I agree with you, the [with caution, not for beginners] should be a link to a thread/article explaining why instead of leaving it for personal interpretation.

To answer your original question Severum I might suggest a "reef safe" wrasse of some sort. If not a wrasse, something that is more active than the Jawfish and Clown. Wrasses constantly move all over the place.

I just added a 2 Spot Hogfish (Candy Wrasse) to my tank with 2 False Percs, 1 Snowflake/Starry Blenny and a Yashia Shrimp Goby. The Hogfish/Wrasse added just the dynamic movement I was looking for.
