They're well placed (between 2-3 other rocks). As soon as the polyps start to spread to those other rocks, move your master colony around to populate other areas.

It is more of a patience thing. When you have one, it takes time to make two. When you have 10, they tend to bud out exponentially. They will outgrow SPS and can even smoother them, so they do grow quicker than SPS ime (in my experience).
