I saw this thread and thought .... HOW IRONIC! :shock:

I just finished an IDENTICAL sump! Mine's made out of a 30g. glass tank though and I have one more divider on the return side of the 'fuge.

If I can figure out how to shrink my pics, I will post them too..you will laugh at how much they look alike! You'd have thought we were sitting side by side and made these togeather! :lol:

Perry, Bonafied;
you both did great jobs on the sump/fuges. Even more irony is that I JUST finished redoing my 30 Gal Sump/Fuge (pics will not be included because it's disgusting looking). Mine doesn't include the bubble trap for the drain because I utilize the bubbles for the skimmer. Again, GREAT WORK GUYS :D

Sump looks good. How thick of acrylic did you use? It looks a little thin and I would be concerned if you used less than 1/4 inch thick. The piece holding back the water in the refugium takes a lot stress holding back the water and can bend or break if too thin.

yeah i used 1/4" acrylic.
I just bought a whole bunch more too. Im building one for a guy next week and i bought enough incase somebody else is needing one.

Are you guys puting the fuge on the end ? I'm still trying to figure out why that is ? I would think you need flow through it , but that's why I'm asking.

BTW my fuge is in the middle.

i think with the many many buble traps that the concern of bending breaking would be nill. I mean the think is glued in many places whare the most strain will be felt. I need to make one i just havent had much luck in the 100% water tight department.

I put a couple of pieces of LR in the bubble chamber to help break up the bubbles.

I don't have any problem with bubbles in the return. And, I also used 2 ball valves to be able to adjust the flow between the water in and the fuge. This allows me to be able to get more flow through the refugium. And with the extra bubble wall in the refugium side, bubbles there aren't an issue either.
