My new seahorse tank!

I just added a second tank to my 180. It is going to act as a display refugium, and possible seahorse tank?

I already plumbed it in to my sump, so it is using the same water as my 180.

The tank is a 21" x 21" x 21" cube.

I have some live rock and macro to place in there. I was thinking of getting some gorgonians and sea fans, but what else should I start to stock before I get the seahorses.

The tank is roughly 35gallons, but in total water volume it is like 215.

What types of Seahorses can I place in here?

I am getting the environment completely setup, and starting to research seahorses before I make a purchase of one. ANY tips would be appreciated!

Thanks!

you could do sea horses and pipe fish too... ... i know you know how to grow the food.. ..

180 seahorse i bet that will be ausome.. but i heard they are also alot of work

check the sea horses ora sales, they are all warm water species that would work well attached to your reef. Good luck, post some pics

I have my tank on a chiller, and I run it at 77 degrees(77.1 to 77.9). I think this is a little cooler than most, but do you think it will be an issue for seahorses?

Thanks!

here is a pic of the bare tank. I am going to stock up on Tonga branch, various macro, sponges, sea fans, and gorgonians.

Very nice!!! You could keep "hippocampus comes aka tigertail" without a problem. They can be exposed to a little more warmer waters then other seahorses. I keep mine in a tank that stays around 76 and I have never had a problem. Once you get some you will spend days watching them. Its fun watching them flirt with each other and dance around at night. Good luck!
