I have one of those...

I think it was sold to me as a halloween crab, but I believe it is an electric blue hermit. Mine is so big he knocks over frags all the time. When he is at the top of the tank I hand feed him a sliver of my tang algea, he loves it.

I had one of those in my pico. It molted about once a month and lasted about 6 for me. Great crab, would grab the turkey baster to get at the food. Quite a bulldozer though. He would knock things around pretty good.

Ye, that is an Electric Blue. I had 1 for ever in my 1st tank. I also had an Electric Orange and a Halloween.

Haven't found a pic of the Elect. Orange but here are my Elec. Blue and Halloween. The E.O. is just like the Blue except - Orange.

they actually go by blue-knee or blue-knuckle hermits said:
Blue Knee hermits (Dardanus guttatus) are a different critter than Electric Blue hermits (Calcinus elegans). Blue Knees get bigger and are not "reef safe" at all.

... just asking...

but how could you have a diff opinion if the source of the debate is based on a fact?

not trying to be mean, but I read that last comment and was like "what?"

evyerone has varying names for things and that can't be helped

some guy a while back posted a candy cane/trumpet coral as a torch and everyone was like WHAT?!?! lo and behold, torch is another name for candy cane actually

since Mike had to submit a picture and you'd like proof of an opinion, here y'all go

Your calling it a Blue-knee yet the pic you posted says Blue-knuckle . Blue-knuckle & Electric Blue may be the same thing but, again, Blue-knee is not the same.

I simply don't want to see some newbie order/purchase a Blue-knee hermit for their reef tank thinking it is something else.
