My New 40g Sump/Fuge & Auto-Topoff

Hey everyone, my name is Ram and I live in corpus. Just thought I would show you how we do it in the south...lol. Well I finally got rid of my micro bubble problem. I upgraded my sump/fuge from 20 gallons to a whopping 40 gallons. It has a bubble tower section, skimmer section, then the fuge, following by another bubble area and a Drip Box so I can measure my effluent from my CR and then a return. I also managed to finish my custom top-off. Everything is hooked up to a 12A relay so I dont have to worry about any electrical surges cause by the switch. It powers a Hagen 802 Powerhead which delivers water to the sump. I also installed a lit switch and a red LED with lights up when the float switch is activated. Came out really sweet. Let me know what you guys you think. Ram

Nice idea about the switch and light. I know I wish I had a switch on mine so that I could turn it off during maintenance or acclimation when the water level might change.

that's exactly why I put that litte puppy on there. I had it hooked up a year ago but just through an extension cord and everytime I did a water change I always forgot to unplug it and would add quite a bit of water to my tank. This solves that problem no question.

you did an Excellent Job on that. Some of our Other well known Sump/fuge builders might want a closer look {Looks at Marc}

Marine-noob:

Thanks for the compliments! I used Acrylite FF 1/4". I use extruded on my sumps because it doesnt matter. I've made about 20 so far and have never had any fail. The teeth were originally cut into the acrylic divider. But while I was gluing I was using a 20lb weight and it fell over and cracked all the teeth. So, I cut a new piece of white acrylic and made the teeth with my table saw. I used to use a router but like the way the table saw makes a slant on the inside so the water stickes to the walls resulting in a quiter overflow box. HTH

Thank you very much for the kind words. About the closer look....LOL!! I'm actually supposed to take a trip up there and visit with Marc to exchange some tips and pointers. O yea, and take him some MC-Bond for use. Hopefully I can before school starts. We'll see.

Thanks again guys.
