I'm going to get heat for the damsels, but I'm thinking of doing it damsel only... theyre too good looking to condemn for being a bit "pissy"

I love damsels. I hate their attitude. If I were to do damsels, it would be a damsel only tank. I think that would look great... though you might have to replace a few every now and then. Good thing they are $4 or $5.

Yellow guy looks cool... domino will be a pain in the ass once he gets a little bigger.

Nice set up... I still have fond memories of the tank set up. This one on my hands has been a real treat to build. I caught myself yesterday wishing I had purchased the 54 corner instead of 36 corner... then I slapped some sense into myself and suddenly was satisfied with what I have.

Keep working on it... I should be up and running in a couple of months.

Good start, looks very clean, yea those dominos are monsters when they get larger, like little piranhas waiting for you to stick your hand in .

great start on the tank! when I cycled I used 5 damsels and caught all but one. He was pretty tame until he saw my gold-banded clown bite my hand everytime I stick it in the tank. Now the damsel has decided to bite my hand lol it's so funny to see how serious they look and how little it hurts (for now)

Yeah... I have given thought to a damsel only tank before.

(1) You just can't beat the price of Damsels.
(2) They are so colorful
(3) Damsels are NEVER boring

A Damsel only tank is the only way I would introduce Damsels into my tank. As a matter of fact, I have given thought to making my tank a Damsel only tank.

Geez, this thread is making me consider it. Though, I think I will stick with something simple like some Green Chromis, Black Clowns & a Bi Color Blenny. But who knows???

the only fish im actually adding to my 28 are damsels because i have a mantis in there and if he eats one its only a $5 fish. i have a 3 stribe and blue in with my niger now so they would transition over with a domino and some of those neon looking ones like posted above

according to Petco, chromis are damsels... and they charge the same price, $3.99.

I have one chromis in there, he is smaller than the rest, but much faster...

Oh yea... they are Damsels. But they are far more peaceful than most other Damsels. They wouldn't last long in a Damsel tank I doubt.

Edited... meant more peaceful.

Just for thought....

Would Black Ocellaris hold their own with a Damsel tank... especially if they had a Seabae Anenome as a host?

Most fish would easily survive with damsels, they are mean but most of their darting around do very minimal damage, and after a while they just accept their tank mate, just as long as you don't introduce any fish smaller then the damsels. Those dominos are a different story, the only thing I loved about them was a chance to impress my friends when i could stick my hand in there and dodge the attacks of those crazy things, their aggression grows with their size, and they get pretty big. It got to the point where I had to wear thick rubber gloves just to rearrange something in the tank, but that's just my story, yours can be peaceful little angels, who knows?

I doubt most will become perfect little angels. My only qualms about doing a Damsel only tank (w/ a pair of clowns) is if something bad happened... the trouble I would go thru catching the little buggers.

Of course, going BB helps that somewhat.

I'll give it serious thought... it might be cool to put a few different kind in there.

My main thought was to put a pair of Black Ocellaris in with a couple or three other roaming fish. I can't go with any jumper (Goby) because it's open top. Dottyback... nope because they like to pick on shrimp from time to time. Blenny... not too many, because BB.

Maybe a few Damsels would work out nice... add some color, add some action, and add some grouchy personality too!

Uh... well we have successfully turned Ol' heelhook's thread into a Damsel thread.

Sorry!!
