My 1st Seahorses tomorrow. *** Pictures added***

My Seahorses are coming tomorrow. I'm soooo excited!!!!!! I'm getting 4 Southern H. Erectus. I've been preparing my tank for 6 months and I'm finally going to get my new babies!!!!! YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sweet! lots of pics please! i so want a sea horse tank, but always worry about being able to care for them, that and the fact that i already have 4 tanks...lol...

nice - can't wait to see some pics. these guys have so much personality. mine come up to the front of the tank and watch us go back and forth just beggin for food. when they see the "great food tube form the sky" (aka turkey baster) they get all excited. I have a few other tank mates in with them but it's still our seahorse tank.

If they're not tank raised and only eating live foods let us know, we got ours over to frozen in a couple weeks. the main thing is gettting them to respond to a visable food source, like a turkey baster or a feeding tube with a dish at the bottom. They learn pretty quick. Good luck and keep us posted.

My new babies are coming from a breeder in California that I found on the Syngnathid.org board. I think mine are his last shipment because he's selling off his remaining stock to a LFS. Not enough business through Internet sales. He's been wonderful. When I first contacted him, he ask about me and my set up to make sure that I was prepared to take care of Seahorses. :D

I built a feeding station out of shells and got a clear plastic tube to deliver the food. I'll post pictures later.

They are here and safe in their new home. :D :D :D I was a little worried when they arrived because their water was 64 and my tank is 73. After acclimation, they all laid on the bottom for 10 - 15 min., then swam over to different hitching post. Since the lights are out today I'll wait until tomorrow to take pictures.

I'll take some whole tank pictures tonight.

Did you buy the Seahorses that were for sale on the forum a few weeks ago that originally came from Ocean Rider? I decided to set up my tank after touring the Ocean Rider Seahorse Farm in Kona last March. :D

They have a nice facility that produces pretty ponies.

I did pick-up the four Ocean Riders last Saturday in Flower Mound and they are doing great; one of the Females has remained a Bright White Camo and a male is an unusual Neon Orange. I received four Reidi today and they are all striking yellows and reds. I have had OR?s in years past and they were never as active; both groups float from one end of the tank to the other in a continuous parade. I have all eating out of two small cups; as I put the cups in, the OR?s come running and today the new Reidi soon followed; it?s very comical to see a miniature ?heard? gathered around a pocket-sized ?trough?. I took 40 or 50 photos today, however they are all fuzzy, nothing clear; I?m not sure if it?s the camera or the operator.
Look forward to the photos of your tank and congratulations on your very stunning heard,
Kevin

Trudy,

Very nice, I especially like all of your Sponges and Whips; have you had them long? In my past experiences I wasn't able to keep them alive for extended periods; yours look great tell me the secret to keeping them.

Most of my photos have turned out extremely blurry to date, however I picked the clearest of the bunch; see below.

I understand about blurry pictures. I have more trouble getting good pictures of my tank using a tripod than I do when I?m scuba diving and taking pictures in the ocean. Practice, practice, practice, I guess. At least my tank can?t swim away. :)

4 sponges and 1gorgonian came as freebees with the Live Rock that I got from Tampa Bay Saltwater 6 months ago. All the others have been added in the last 2 to 4 months. Not very old, but all doing great. I feed them a mixture of Marine snow, Cyclop-eze and the 5-50 micron particle size of Golden Pearls, every 2 to 3 days. I don?t know if that?s the right things to feed them but I figured they?d like something in that combination.

Beautiful seahorses guys!

I really wanted those ocean rider seahorses but my tank is not ready for them at this time.

You guys make me miss my seahorses. This is the first time in over 8 years that I don't have any seahorses.

You will have to keep me in mind if they start having babies.
