My 110G FLAT BACK HEX BUILD

I dont know if it is really considered a build log but its a new tank and we all like new tanks. I bought the tank recently off a memeber here infact all equipment i have so far i got out of the used section. Anyways onwards to the tank i set it up Thursday. I am running a oceanic sump QO3000 return pump and T5's for lighting. The tank is going to be a mixed reef very few sps. I still have to get a skimmer i could use yalls input on what skimmer to get i was thinking of going with DAS EX1 or EX2 im not sure though. I also need more lights i have two Actinic(blue) t5's now but i need more i just dont know what bulb configuration to do im only going to do 4 bulbs total maybe 6 on down the road but 4 for now i could use some help with what bulbs to use. Anyways that is enough babbling for now on with the PICS :) please give me your comments and ideas i would love here them.

thanks,
Nathan

LOL Don't worry about people posting to your thread. Just keep it updated as a build log and people will jump in when they can and when they have something to say. Things slow down here on the weekends.

You say "infact all equipment i have so far i got out of the used section" and I would assume you have learned a thing or two around here so you have obviously benefited from the site. Not joining because people don't post "OOOOHHH" and "AHHHHH" over your thread within 24 hours is childish. Don't be a drama queen. I am not trying to be rude, telling it how i see it.

Nice tank. OOOOHHH! AHHHHH! :)

Im not saying oooh and ahhhh over my tank what i was sayn is 40 people looked at the post not a one comment. i asked questions not a answerer yes i benefited from the used section but why would i want to become a memeber when i can use that for free. I was going to be a memeber to get to know everyone but i wanted you know some input on my tank but i didnt get any so i felt like my tank wasnt up to par for around here. im not tryn to be a drama queen and you only replied to my second post cause of what i said not to the original so kinda proves my point.

Thanks

The used section is free for you to use but it's not free to run. There are servers and bandwidth to pay for. The way they pay for all of that is with memberships so why not take some of the money you saved on the equipment and support the site that saved it for you? I am not anything more than a member here myself but I see the benefit of the site and realize it doesn't happen for free.

40 views isn't that many and there are a lot of lurkers here. At least two of those are mine because I saw a tank that resembled yours in my travels and came back to this thread. Have you ever read a thread and not replied? Then you're rude and heartless too. ;)

I do like the tank. I was set to go look/buy a similar tank off of Craigslist the other day and it sold before I could get there. The 110 is a little big for me and the space it's going in but I like the flatback hex design.

Do keep the thread updated. It's always cool to see threads a year down the road and see how they started. :)

Well throwing a hissy fit because you didn't get a response in 1 day over a holiday weekend isn't really a good way to get a response. Perhaps those people who saw the thread didn't have any answers for you.... perhaps they did and decided not to... who knows.

4 bulb configuration.. my personal preference would be 1 Geissemann 11K, 2 ATI Blue Plus and an ATI Actinic... if you have a 4x39 over that tank. If its wired to run in pairs... start the day on the blue plus for an hour or so, then kick in the others for the duration, then run another hour with the Blue Plus only again.

If you want more growth and a whiter look... drop the actinic and go with another 11K.

Im going to be using 4x54 and the will light in pairs i was going to go for a little more of a blue look. i will look in to the bulbs you mentioned.

Thanks,
Nathan

Then the first config would probably do it.. you might want to get multiple bulbs and mix and match since my idea of nice blue may not be yours. But the Blue Plus as the nicest out there in my opinion.. I run them on both my tanks that have T-5. The coloration is similar to a 20K MH but brighter.
