Mud or sand - Sand bed or miracle mud

[Okay a friend just got a new system with a Eco sump/filter. It has Miracle Mud in it, is that good or should he switch to a Sand bed. As I have done neither what do you guys recommend.]
 
[I think the Ecosystems are intended to use the mud. I know a few people with that setup Ill see if I can get you some more info.]

Ok I hope that link worked. Alas this is not a miracle product to be leary of. I know a few people that use this system and are very pleased with it. The mud will house pods like you wouldnt believe and grows macro very well.

[I know a few people who have used the stuff and had great results. OTOH, a couple of years ago somebody sent some off to be analyzed at a lab, it tunrs out the stuff appeared to be harvested from a mountain side in CA or something. If you search on ReefCentral, you can read more about it than can shake a stick at.]

I have to agree about the CA statement, everything odd is located in that State-of-disrepair. I lived there 9yrs and there are more Nut Trees than you can shake a stick at, from the government down. I am not surprised the Mr.Mircle Mud man just digs it out of his/her back yard and sells it as Gold from the high country.

I always thought it was something they put in the water and NOW! I find that it is really in the land. Goes to show a person that if'in you don't watch out you will be on the Dock of the EBay like Odis Redding.

Just joken. I think there is alot to be said for the Mud projects and I will waite until the verdict is in. I/We are doing Mangroves, but I would not trust the system on the Mangroves, just a test see. I just float them off the sand. I find it does help reduce the skimmer, but I now hear that Mag levels might be the problem, yet I have seen Noooo change in my Pars and growth is still great, still working on it.

Good luck with the Mud and I would like to see the project as it is in progress. I think you live just up the street from us?, so you said?
