Moving a reef tank

Can anyone recommend to me some good movers in the area?

The only one that I know of is DNA, and they want $150 an hour...and won't give me a fixed price (which I hate, because they can take as long as they want, they have no incentive to get it done quickly...and just watch as a simple tank move ends up costing me $600-900).

that is usually the going rate...plus they are insured if they drop and break it...they will have to replace it...

i called a moving apple moving and another moving place they dont move big tanks....

the first question i would ask is how big is the tank and how far are you wanting to move it im sure we can get some guys here to get together and move it for a fee i know i have moved my share

I am more than willing to compensate some members to help me with the move.

It is being moved from McKinney to Addison. The only consternation that I have is that once inside, it is being moved up a flight of stairs. The liability of the move up the stairs is what scares me...

I don't mind the $150 an hour, it is the fact that DNA has every incentive to take their time to maximize their revenue.

Are you moving into a apartment? Most won't let you have a large tank on the upper floors.

moving a 90 up a flight of stairs is not an issue and i would not be scared at all. i have moved 2 135s up stairs with two people and not a problem.

i can help you move it in addison...not mckinney need to give me heads up on time and date just pm me

I appreciate all the offers!

One of our own members is opening up a LFS and will be offering the moving services, so I think I am going to employ his assistance.

Once it is all said and done, all of those that offered still get a few free rounds of beer from me! How many of us is in the North Dallas area?

i think you can use 150$ to treat members some beers and pizza forhelping you move the tank and make some friends. I know they have moved NIki's' 450g tank last month. If i am not working, i can help you move, but dont rely on me too much, b/c i am a "shrimp".

That definitely sounds like a good idea, unfortunately I am constrained by two things. The fact that I can't move stuff in the evenings or over the weekend because of condo by-laws, and have to do stuff early in the morning because the family I am buying it from has to work during the weekdays. I wouldn't want to inconvenience a bunch of people and have them wake up at 5:30 am :(
