Mounting magnets in the tank

I love using magnets in the tank vs the stupid suction cups that are a joke. The hard part i have is getting them mounted. I first tried super glue gel...that failed pretty quick. Now I am using putty epoxy with limited success.

It doesn't really grab into the metal of the magnets. I have tried it on the black epoxy coated neo's and the regular shiny chrome looking flavors. I have a pic on my other computer that I'll try and get up later that shows 2 mags holding strong(maybe), and the void where another mag once was. The 2 mags still there are holding the pump, but I don't dare test them with any extra pulling or tweaking.

Is there something else out there that works better and is safe in the tank?

If I mount something like that I normally use 5 minute epoxy and coat it all over, let it cure for at least 48 hours outside the tank. Works great for me. You can even sprinkle PVC shavings on it as it dries and coraline will cover it up pretty quick.

Here is a pic of the maxi bracket w one failed epoxy job (it failed a month or so ago, hence the coraline in the cavity). The in tank mags are 1/4" thick w the rough side of velco on the glass side. I originally had matching 1/4" epoxy coated neo's on the outside w the felt side of velco on the glass side. I had to upgrade to 1/2" mags on the outside after the one mag released in the tank.

I let them cure 24hrs outside the tank, and as you can see coraline fires off on that stuff pretty quick so it doesn't need any help. Are you using the liquid/gel 2 part epoxy? I think I tried that stuff once, and it felt 'soft' after a month in the tank, but maybe I'm confusing it with some of the superglue gel's I have tried.

You are wanting to glue the epoxy coated magnets to the maxijet bracket right? If so the stuff I posted works great. just put a nice thick coat and let it cure at least 48 hours.
