Mounting Green Star Polyps

We got some Beutiful Green Star Polyp from Premium aquatics yesterday that are not on rocks. We are planning on putting some rubber bands on them to hold them to a rock untill they attach themselves.

Is this a good idea or will I hurt the polyps?

For those that are interested they were only 15$ each and about 30$ to ship overnight. So for a pair I paid ~65$. There is about 15 sqaure inches between the two frags. Alot bigger than I was expecting.

ITA with Matt - but my .02c would be to use super glue GEL - sometimes rubber bands can cause the matting to rip, and you would then have pieces all over your tank. Use of gel, just around the edges, and NOT covering all of the mat, would be my recommendation.

edit - I emphasize gel, because regular glue just soaks in

I used the rubber band method once and it grew over the rubberbands quickly. So now I have part of a rubber band stuck inside my GSP.

Superglue

I haven't used super glue to mount any softies, but the SPS I've mounted with it has held fine even on wet rock. I try to blot out as much of the water as I can on the spot I'm glueing to, but it's definitely still moist...

Come to think of it, I've superglued a few frags directly to larger pieces of rock in my tank completely underwater...

I think the best way to mount star polyps is in somebody else's tank! I'm losing 2 nice SPS colonies to star polyps that are taking over in a bad way. I will most certainly have an intense green colony of polyps for the frag swap.
