Got 6 chromis , 4 file fishes went missing and found my powder blue tang got eaten this morning, wrapped around spider webs look alike.
Anybody know what its in my tank that can do something like that !

First of all...gorgeous tank. It's really hard to determine what's going on. I can't make out much in the 2nd & 3rd picture. Have you had any new additions to the tank lately? New rock? New fish? Were the fish 100% healthy prior to disappearing? What are the tank parameters looking like? I assume the webbing could be worms or something trying to process the dead fish. said:
Thanks Matt. The 2nd and 3rd pics are the dead fish got wrapped with webs. All my fishes are very healthy, but just keep disappeared til this morning I found my 4 1/5 powder blue tang dead.
No new rocks or fish. Parameters are very stable.
Big bristal worm in my tank ????

I had a fish jump outside the tank and I put it back in the tank to see if the cleanup crew would eat it.

They ate quite a bit over night. What was left was in spider-like webs. I threw it out to avoid any spikes.

the tang is a big fish; on all the other missing fish was there any sign of them? also what kind of clean-up crew do you have? Not that it matters but it might help determine the size of your predator, I.E. is the predator eating the entire fish, or killing it and the clean-up crew is "cleaning up?" I'm in Plano and have a red LED light. It's pretty strong but you're more then welcome to use it. And they do make predator traps

sounds like an internal issue or fungus. Sounds bad but with 0 signs prior to death you may want to do an autopsy to see if you can determine the problem.

A lot of this sounds like postmodem decay and scavenging. In particular any dead animal found covered in gel or web like threads with a bad smell.

A big mantis large enough to take out a tang isn't going to be able to hide for very long.
If it were my tank, I would double check water quality, then signs for disease such as ick, velvet flukes, etc.

The second two pictures are pretty dark. Are you sure the "webs" aren't something like spaghetti worms? Was there anything left of the file fish that went missing?

A bit more info about my tank.
Its a 135 Gallons and used to have 9 Chromis, 4 file fishes, 1 yellow tang, 1 blue tang and powder blue tang, 2 yellow wrasses, and 1 six lines wrasse, 2 cleaner shrimps and a bunch of small size clean up creww and one mexican turbo snail.
I transferred all the corals and rocks from another tank over about 4 months now, everything seems very happy and healthy except for disappearing fishes and cleaner shrimps.
I guess I will setup a trap and monitor it through out the night. Thanks for all you guys info.

I only found 2 small chromis that had a bite mark on theirs body floating around, and also the powder blue tang dead this morning. The rest of them went missing.
I am pretty sure its webs not spaghetti worms.

No, no updated. I really dont have time to do it right now, maybe later just built me a little trap to trap whatever its that ate my livestocks.
