[:eyebrows: I hope you are joking about the photo.
It's called a money plant not like the photo listed here. The money plant is a salt water plant. I ran into a gentelman at a frag swap and he had one. It's green with round dime to quater size leaves on it. The plant was thick and harty, he said that his tangs want even tackle it.
I'm seriously looking for them, so anyone with good information please pace it along.
Thank you again in advance.

[I'd never heard it called that before.

However, I have heard this hobby called The Money Pit before. :p]

[I have some but i rip it out as fast as it grows..when dried out it is hard like a rock from all the calcium it exports..]

[There is some in one of the displays at Randy's that I'm sure they would sell you. They told me once that they would be ripping it out because its a calcium hog and will take it up quicker than corals will.]

[I bought a nice stalk from DNA that instantly went sexual in my tank and is now a small part of my sand bed.]

[I have some. After I saw Dallas North selling it for $40, I decided to give it away as often as possible. That's highway robbery.

I had to tear down my fuge temporarily, but I still have some growing in the tank. Let me know if you want some.

[I saw a halmeda plant/rock for 38 at petland.
Gee, a few weeks ago, I must have thrown
a couple of hundred bucks away. :very angry:]

[Hi -

So I am a bit confused. Is this plant a "calcium hog"? I have this stuff growing in quite a few places and have always thought it added something different to my tank (other than the normal mushroom landscape). But recently a member was kind enough to share some SPS frags. I always have trouble keeping my calcium levels above 300 ppm. So if this stuff is exporting my calcium, perhaps it should be removed (or at least reduced)? I would hate to have it competing with the SPS frags (which seem to be doing well at the moment).

Thanks for any thoughts...]

[Hello Everyone,
I just thought I'd toss in that at the moment this plant it going in our 200G with a few differant types of tangs. Tangs do not seem to want to eat it? Then it's going into my 120G with only a clown trigger. I have a clown and the ungulated living together at the moment in another tank and it's time to seprate them. Each trigger well have it's own housing where they can grown to full adult size. (They are my show trigger's) I'll see about posting a pic soon.
Thank you all for your help, I'm very greatful.

[Ziggy,
I have spent the last hour reading about Halimeda on a couple of boards. I came to the conclusion is that it will suck up calcium and it can grow pretty fast. A few people say that they have some large tangs that will graze on it. A lot said they did not think it went asexual but a couple of people said it did in their tanks.
Overall I think if you had good calcium levels it would be a less of a problem. Though if your calcium was higher, then you would probably find the halimeda growing like crazy. Since you said you have a hard time keeping the calcium over 300pm, I would think that the halimeda is not helping. It seems to depend a lot on how much you have of the stuff and how big the tank is. If you could keep it trimmed and raise the calcium levels, then it would be less of a problem. But I guess that would depend how much you like trimming the stuff. :)]
