Molting question

do pods and/or tiny shrimp "molt" molt? The only reason I ask is because last night when I turned on the powerheads after feeding I noticed 3 "tiny shrimp" molts. They were clear as can be and I have never seen these before or anything like it. I am kinda thinking it was in the food, but wouldn't that happen more than once every two months if it were in the food?

Thank in advance for your help.

Ya be scared when you don't have molts flying! It's a great sign of a mature tank that's ready for some pod eaters!

At first I thought, its just in the food, then I started thinking....could they be an invasive species of some type and how on earth did it get in my tank, and from there I was worried half the night and kinda happy because it was something new.

Ahh, the life of a newbie reefer.

hahaha, no but I did use a regular one to hunt for pods until I noticed it scared the crap outta my fish. They must think I'm a giant crazy ogre of some type.

I almost went out and bought one last night but I didn't think wal-mart would have one and it was 1am.....

Absolutely. Sometimes that's the only way you know you've got Amphipods is from their molts flying all over the tank. said:
And all this time I thought the gammarus shrimp were dying... duhh on my part. Thanks Matt
