Ok,

So on the advice of a fellow reefer, I went with 2 x Koralia 3's in my 120.

I however, found that it's just not enough flow to keep detritus from building up, and to keep everyone happy.

Not wanting to buy another Koralia which takes up alot of space, I saw an old MaxiJet in one of my "junk" tubs. and decided to give the mod kit a try.

So, I swung by Marine Depot today after work and picked up the 1200 Mod.

OMG. This thing rocks. I don't know how anyone could want more flow. This thing is on one side of my 4' wide 120G and it's ricocheting off the wall on the opposite side.

I may have to put the smaller of the 2 impellers on here just to keep the sand in the tank !

I am pleased !

yea, i actually just had a chance to check out the power on one and they are quite impressive. btw, where did you pick the mod up at? marine depot? there is one locally?

Ha HA,

No, not local to DFW anyway.

I moved and I am actually in Orange Co. now, so I can just drive over to Garden Grove and do will call.

They have them in stock for $14.99 and they're RAW'some.

Got to have an MJ 1200 and that's it. (oh and if you don't have your original suction mount, you'll need to order a magnetic mount for the MJ.)

oh, ok, lol, just saw your profile still says mckinney, i was like, ummm...how did i miss that store opening, lol...must be nice

it has it's advantages.

Of course, there isn't an aquaria group out here as active as DFWMAS.

The SCMAS is pretty laid back and boring. They don't even have a functional message board so I still stick around here as a member to get my fix.

what?! really!? socal doesnt have an active mas? wow, crazy...well glad to have ya still, always welcome!

your screen name fits right in with where you live!

Does the mod use the same bottom part of the pump. I cut the tube thing off mine.

Yah, they've always been one of my fav. bands. I spent time out here in thre mid 90's in the Marine Corps, so I got hooked on the SoCal Dub-style music as a late teen.

As for the Maxi Mod, i had done the same with the MJ i had. I cut the nozzle off to use as a salt stir.

You don't need it. You replace that portion, with the big "Koralia" like turbine. You also replace the axle, impeller, and magnet.

So, all you really need is your bracket, and the pump ass'y. $15, not bad at all.

well it was pump a$$'y as in abbreviated for "Assembly"

But apparently we have a swear filter. When did that happen ?

Dallas North Aquarium has them in stock. I picked one up last week and used a 400 mj to mod but its to powerful for my 55 gallon reef, go figure.
