MJ Mods in 30" Deep Tank? Advice needed.

Just modded my first MJ (cutting off the jet method, not the new impeller way), but am going from Hydor's to this new setup. My tank is a 180g and have 4 MJ 1200's. Tomorrow I will finish off the other 3.

Question is: The Hydor's were nice in my 30" deep tank because it would spread the flow downward much more and into the center of the tank. With the mod's the waterflow goes more upward and to the side. Not much downward at all. I keep my MJ's about 2" from the top.

Think when I get all 4 mod'ed there will be plenty of flow elsewhere in the tank? I am considering buying the Impeller-mod kits for 2 of mine to add a little more flow as well. But, this won't be for a while.

Advice?

For quite a while I had 4 nozzle-cut MJ's as the circulation in my 150... I have 2 on each overflow, pointing forward, on a convoluted wave timer basically (But I can't do anything the simple way  )

The key is, on each side, one is at the bottom of a single hanger (The hanger's the MJ's come with) and the 2nd one is at the bottom of 1 hanger glued to another hanger... Hope that makes sense?

(I've still got these, but have added an OceanFlo modded MJ1200 on each end as well)

i use the magnet holders for my MJ's. So I guess you are recommending I put one at 4-5" deep and the other at the normal 2" deep? Or should I go more than 5" deep?

fyi, my tank dimensions are 48x30x30. I have 2 on the ends, and 2 on the back spaced accordingly.

If you have the option, I'd definitely stagger them over a variety of heights...

Since the nozzle-cut MJ's blow to the sides instead of straight forward, I'm really liking having mine on the overflows pointing straight forward towards the front glass, so they send flow to their sides...

just 1. plan on doing the rest tomorrow.

if I plan on getting the impeller-mods next month, will it effect anything if I cut all 4? i.e. does the impeller mod use the jet?
