mixing station question

Alright folks,

I recently got my new to me RODI mixing station up and running. The issue i am having is that I don't know exactly how much water is being added to the mixing storage container after it leaves the top RODI storage tank. This makes it a pain when I am adding salt, etc. What I am looking to do is find a solution to where I can measure as exact as I can the amount of water I am adding.

What I am thinking about doing is re doing some of the plumbing work and adding a clear storage bin (white 35 gallon drum?) for the salt mix station. I am also thinking about adding a bulkhead to the bottom of it so I can completely drain the contents. If you look at the current set up, the way it is plumbed, I am leaving water in the mixing container because of where the exit pipe leaves the bin. this is wasteful and also makes it a pain not knowing exactly how much water Ive just made.

I have the re plumb stuff figured out. I just need to find a white/see through/ clear storage bin that will fit in the place of the existing salt mix bin. I ave an extra bulkhead and can take care of the valves,. etc. Anyone know where to find what I am looking for? keep in mind that it must stay upright and not on it's side.

here is the mixing station. anything else I can improve on besides replacing the first sediment filter?

obviously the thought behind the clear mixing bin is to put marks on it with a sharpie at each gallon mark. or five if that ends up working better. anyone have a setup similar to this one? additional modifications to make it better?

I change the same amount of water every WC, so I fill my mixing container to the same level every time ( to the mark ) and have learned through trial and error exactly how many scoops of salt to add to that water level to achieve my desired salinity. I always check it with a refractometer, but it's always dead on. Heat and mix for 24 hrs before doing WC. I make enough in each batch so that I have 5 gal extra to put in a jug to have on hand for emergencies throughout the week. I always like having pre mixed salt at the ready. Since you have roughly 70-75 gallons of total water volume factoring in your sump size and amount of rock that is displacing water in your. DT, a 20% water change would be 15 gal.... Since you're using a 32 gal brute to mix, you could just fill it slightly above half way and mix it there.... This will give you enough to do the change and have some left over for emergencies. I agree that you should plug off the existing bulkhead and move it to bottom. That way you can completely clean out the brute after every batch.

You can also add a T to the inside of the container, it will reduce the amount of water left in it. Just make sure is as close as you can to the bottom of the tank without blocking the flow of water going out.
