Mixing Saltwater

I have a quick question for you guys. I was wondering how you handled mixing your saltwater now that the temperatures are on the rise? My trashcan is in the garage and with the temperatures higher now my water gets pretty warm (it was actually too warm) after mixing for a few days. I also experienced a lower than normal PH in the water (I think the pump I have is too weak and need a stronger pump to aerate the water better). I am not sure where in my house I can setup my mixing station and any insight you might have would be appreciated.

How much water to you change at a time? Depending on how much you could buy 5 gallon jugs and fill those the night before and bring them in the house to get to room temps. I personally don't do the mix before hand bit. I let mine mix for 30 minutes to an hour and then it goes in the tank.

Maybe in the laundry room? I generally mix mine there, and mix it just before I go to bed the night before a change.

I would do what Opus said then and just fill up and bring in what you need the day before. How much is you water change at a time normally? I will be pumping to the big tank soon, so this got me thinking too...hmmm. I will be brainstorming, got a pick of your mixing station?

I have always mixed my saltwater near the tank. That way temperature and pH match. Plus no hauling since the water is near the tank. :)

I am subscriber to your channel... Love your setup and hope that we can meet sometime at one of the events. Mixing near the tank (my living room) would be difficult. I will have to see what can be done with the bosses permission (the better half). I have, by the way, sent you some messages via your website regarding some of your equipment.

I'm having the same problem now. My mixing station is in the garage. For top off water it's not that big a deal since it only adds a little at a time, but for water changes my salt mix was 91 degrees yesterday. I'm just putting it in a 5g bucket and bringing it inside for a few hours first rather than pumping it straight from the mixing container.

Hmmm...I wonder if installing one or two of the "CoolWorks Ice Probe with Power Supply" would be enough to cool it down...

It would probably work on the 5g container but I don't think it would be able to do much on the 30g mixing barrel in the garage heat.

Darn...adding a regular chiller just doesnt sound economical...back to the drawing board...

Nope, I don't want to buy a chiller just to use in my garage for a few summer months. Since I usually just change about 5g at a time anyway, I've just sort of resigned myself to carrying a container inside ahead of time. Then I siphon water out into a 5g bucket and move the hose from my ATO pump to the new water container and let it add the new water back in until the switch cuts it off.

I'd considered putting my giant poly tank in the garage, and then only turning on the chiller the day before a water change. But that seemed counter-intuitive.
