This will be my first tank sump combo so any suggestions or things I can do now to save me any headaches in the future is appreciated! I finished installing the Mega Flow piping the other day just waiting for the sump to come in to leak test everything.

Looks really nice and clean. You can use a 5 gallon bucket as a temp sump for the freshwater leak test. [smilie=wink.gif]

Cheers,

Sump and skimmer arrived today..Here are some pics:

UMMMM Will this fit under my tank, fingers crossed??? Big box :) Nicely packed from ETSS

Progress continues... I finalized the plumbing of the skimmer, added a work light, added power and routed wires. Also did a leak test and everything holds water ok.

ETSS left out a few parts like the return hose line barb connection, clamps and micron filter so those should arrive sometime this week.

Also cut some eggcrate to size for the refugium. I am going to run biobale under the eggcrate and put some live rock on top with various plants ie Cheato etc.

Now I just need to order some salt and sand. Anyone against using CaribSea Arag Alive Bahama Oolite sand?

I've used the dry stuff and if you're going to be putting a good amount of flow inside the tank you might have problems keeping it from blowing around. Oolite is very fine sand.

The tank looks sweet Mike. You know I am itching for a bigger tank too. So can you pm me your total cost? The zoos I got from you are doing great BTW. The yenko and AOG are quite similar except the yenko has a red skirt too.

Update I have filled the tank with water and was able to get everything moved over so far everything moved over nicely with no problems. I decided to switch up my biobale refugium idea and go with Miracle mud and algea Caulerpa instead. I will have to say that Miracle mud is ridiculously expensive for 10lbs oh well nothing in this hobby is cheap. Anyway thanks for the compliments I will be be adding a nice Huge Blue Green Brain Coral (4x4inch), Dendros and some ultra acans next week. Then I will add some SPS coral and more fish soon. I am working out a stock list at the moment. Kids if you haven't visited Mr. Coral for some of thier frag pack deals you need to take a look. If you mention I referred you I think I get a referral of some sort. Take a look here http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?s=d50f0e28592530272bd9ae5067f7ebc8&showforum=63 Just wait for him to post a frag pack but you can see previous frag packs he has offered and price included shipping.

I will post some pics soon in the meantime here is a quick video please feel free to offer suggestions thanks.

Hello! I have made quite a few updates so thought it would be a good time to post a quick update.

I ended up swapping out my light fixture simply because it wasn't getting enough light to the edges of my tank. I opted for the new Icecap Reef Illuminations T5 fixture is has 6x39W T5's which I am currently running from front to back UVL Super Actinic, ATI Blue Plus, ATI Blue Special, ATI Pro Color, ATI Blue Plus, ATI Blue Plus. The fixture also has two LED Tubes which contain 75 individual LED emmiters so night time viewing is out of this world. So far I love the fixture although this light could have used some internal fans to push the heat buildup out of the fixture needless to say it gets hot.

I also added a Reef Keeper lite 3 to handle light schedule, automatic top off, PH, temp, fans etc.. This little device is AMAZING alarms, timers and control for everything really does make life a whole lot easier.

Skimmer production as been really good except when anything oily is introduced to the tank like hands in the tank or something like Arctipods. Anything oily will shut skimmer production for an hour or so. Frozen, flake and pellet foods seem to be fine with no impact to the skimmer. Washing my hands and arm with really hot water and no soap helps to minimize the impact to skimmer production.

As you can see I have change the rock work around a little to bring more height to the sides and front. Added more coral and so far the the Sherman RBTA, brain and pink Ricordea are my favorite pieces. I have lots of smaller pieces that are hard to see a few chalices that need to grow out etc.

Fish list has increased and from the video you can see the new multi color Angelfish, Mystery Wrasse and Midas Blenny. Sleeping under the sand (not visible) is my large Melanarus Wrasse (yes I am aware that the Wrasses and Blenny's do jump.. just living on the edge). Also in the tank are the pair of black and white clownfish and my McNeils Blue Basslet.

Most recently I have added the Sherman RBTA and after a few days of hiding during the night and coming out in different spots he has settled to a less then ideal spot on the side towards the back instead of on top of the rock. It beats him moving all over the other corals so for now it works.

The only problems I have had are with Alkalinity (dropped to close 5dkh and ph was around 7.9) seems to want to drop so currently dosing Seachem Carbonate to get it closer to 9-11 dkh (currently at 9dkh). Calcium seems to be in check around 460ppm PH stays around 8.15-8.25 so at this point no b ionic or kalk drip. I am doing 5 gallon water changes weekly. Temp has also been a problem getting up to 82 during the day I have some fans on order to blow across the lights and see what that does.

Here is a daytime video (sorry for the blurry zoom shots) I will have a night video posted later tonight Thanks!
