Microbubbles.........

I did not want to jump into anyones thread so I'll post this question here. If my microbubbles are coming from the plumbing (turned off skimmer and return pump & bubbles still present). What can be done to rid the tank of these little things? I have a lot of them, along with tiny pieces of what appears to be debris or GOD knows what !!

Upon taking a closer look at my tank, I'm noticing what appears to be some kind tiny white flakes (snow). I think I might have caused some imbalance in the system (precipatation) with my kalk dosing. Any help would be appreciated as I don't really know what to do. I'll read up and see what I can dig up.

do you know your waters parameters and also what is your tank size and equipment your running. and plumbing size of your return line. There is a lot of factors that could cause micro bubbles from under size return line pipe(which happened to me when i first started my 72gal) to new piping that just needs to slime over. Even baffles done wrong and not trapping the bubble correctly.

For starters there are no microbubbles in the sump (or very, very few). Tank is 125g w/mag18. Return line is 3/4. I know a bit small [smilie=thinking.gif] .Parameters are amo is 0 ppm , nitrite is 0.10 ppm ( this is a little odd to me) but what do I know!nitrate 0 ppm , PH is 8.3 . Calcium 460 , Dkh 11 , phosphate 0 ppm . I don't yet test for anything else, but need to very soon.

By the way which are the best test kits out there?

there's a problem with the return line. i believe that danner recommends like a 1 1/2 return line for a mag 18. i did the same thing also i started with a 3/4 line but then upped it to a 1 1/2 manifold then branched to out to all the accessories i had connected. it fixed my micro bubble problem. Also you might want check to makes sure there are no pin holes anywhere, you made sure you did i nice glue job on all the connections?

heres the data PDF look down to the data sheet graph under it it says minimum pipe size is 1 1/2

Reason I left it 3/4 was because I have a chiller conected with 3/4 input/output fittings. After asking a few questions to different people(on the forum too), I was told it would not make a huge difference because the chiller would impose a lot of head!
