MH light colors. blue/purple- suggestion

What is the color difference between: 10-15-20k bulbs.
i heard :
10k is ??
15k is purple
20k is blue


i have a 20k de 250w right now and it has been burned in about 120 hrs. it is still a light blue almost white. catalina aquarium bulb. does brand matter? it does say german on it i believe.


What do i need to change? i like the purple effect.

it is the hamilton pend and stock ballest. not sure on the bulb.


why do you think my 20k is still white after 120hrs of burning. think its the brand?

The catelina bulbs defy normal color temp ratings
I have a nice fixture from them. But I am much happier with replacement bulbs.
The key is how blue do you want it, the higher the K the more blue.
The lower the K the better the growth I hear.

I opted for a nice mix with the reeflux 12 K, then like a bonehead with too much money swapped out for the 10 Ks

What is a good bulb but not too expensive.

has to be 250 w DE.
i like the really blue/purple effect. 10 -15 - or 20k.

i assume my catalinas are not too great of quality.
