Boy this is late but Ill post it anyways. Lately i have had heat issues with my 2x250 watt mh on my 75 gallon display and 30 gallon refegium. The temprature usually goes from 79 to 83 at the end of the photo period( 8 hours). I am going to get a clip on fan from wallmart but do you think it will make a large diffrence .....Do you think a chiller is need

THANKS :D :)

A fan will make a huge difference. Watch it closely for a couple of weeks. You may find you have to set it on a timer, so that it doesn't run around the clock. You don't want to cool the tank so much at night that the heater(s) turn on. It should just cool the tank enough during the daytime to keep your tank around 79-80F.

I used to have mine come on 1 hour after the lights came on, and stay on 3 hours after they turned off. That might help you set it up, but obviously things vary based on the type of stand, type of fan, location where the tank is, angle of air hitting the water...

Yeah, best idea is to cut some round holes in the canopy and put some 4 inch fans blowing air out and/or in. This will make a huge difference.

Good idea is to buy some 2-3 outlet adapters so you can put the lights and fans on the same timer so the fans come on when the lights do.
