The first day I ran my 400w Mh full time, my tank rose to about 84 degrees. It also had kind of a burning smell to it. I know it gets extremely hot.
I now have had a small fan directly blowing on the bulb for the last couple of weeks. The smell is gone but my tank is constantly around 77-78 degrees.
Is this too cold for a reef tank?
Should I turn the fan off, leave it on, or have it face the water?
Does a fan blowing on the bulb have a bad affect on it because it keeps it pretty cool?
