Mesh Mod skimmer results

The photo below was after 24 hours of skimming!
I set up a 60g. cube as a quarantine tank, till I get the 90 up and going, and I put in about 70 gallons of newly mixed 'clean' water; then I took about 18 lbs of live rock out of my sump to get this system going and ran it for 3 days till I put the skimmer on. I modified the skimmer by installing enka mat on the impeller on this EuroReef. After 24 hours of running in this 'clean' water I got this much junk in the skimmer collection cup...nice [smilie=smile.gif] I know sump rocks are dirty but man. I will add that I have neglected to clean those rocks in the sump. I just shook them off good in the sump before moving them over.

Nice Tim. Mesh mods work great on some skimmers. This is an example of that. I need to add some kind of sump to my 29g (where my Bangaii fry are now) so I can put my Octopus NWB150 in it. It's also mesh modded and works great.

I talked with Marc Saturday about incorporating a Banggai hatchery into the new sump system. The only thing I don't like about the sump method is that they are on a reverse lighting system but they seem to get over the jet-lag a couple days after reaching the store.

For those looking for enkamat here's where I got mine.
