Maxijet for circulation

[When using maxijets for water circulation what can you do to prevent fish, coral, etc from getting sucked into them. Do they come with a large strainer to decrease the suction or do you put a foam prefilter on them.

Let me know what you do. Also, any tips on how you mount them, hide them, etc would be appreciated.]

[My horseshoe crab used to get stuck to the bottom of the powerheads from time to time. Other than that, the plastic screens seem fine.]

[Yep, those anemones and MJ intakes seem to have a mystical attraction for each other...
Since my MJ1200's pickup so much macroalgae trash, I started using the foam filter covers designed for Mag3,5,7 series. Works well and is amazing how much stuff the foam filters catch. I keep extras on hand so I have one in the vinegar for cleaning and one on the MJ.
Cleaning Tip: for macroalgae, bleach just nukes the cell structures so they kinda 'melt' away whereas vinegar pretty much leaves the macroalgae intact, even at full-strength. The down-side of the bleach is that if you leave the foam filter in it for several days to soak, it will deteriorate the foam into a very weird gooey mess. Overnight is fine though.

As far as hanging the MJ's, use the hook hanger supplied with the MJ as the suction cups just don't seem to function as well as we would hope...the hook hangers do well, however.]
