Maroon Clownfish Question

I just got a maroon clownfish and I researched that they can be quite aggressive. Can maroon clownfish owner's give me a feedback on what they think. Also, I want to buy another maroon clownfish for the previous one. Will they fight? How do I get them to pair up? Thank you!

Mines a half inch and a little bugger! I got him to host a purple tip, and he's very happy with it. I don't plan on adding any other maroon until he is at least 6 inches. I don't want him to be stunted. I'll let him grow up, then I plan on breeding him.

Well mines the gold band, I think they are meaner.... We had a 6 inch one at the lfs that would take your finger off if you came close to his anemone

Good luck with yours!

Do you have any other fish in the tank? Is he aggressive to them? said:
I have not attempted yet. He already charges the glass when my girlfriend comes up to the tank. He will bite your finger and retreat then come out again. He knows when you have food and when your just messing with him. At this point in time, I am pretty sure he would ninja kick any other fish in there. He will go into my 125 once he is larger. As for adding other fish, individual fish are different. That gold band at the store loved other fish ( was with naso and regal) but hated human hands.

Thanks a lot! That really helped. said:
Hehe i hope that helped! Guess your going to have to go the trial and error route, but a quick time out of the tank for the maroon could correct any aggression.

Are you going to get him an anemone?

Maroons are VERY aggressive. Mine nipped at my fingers everytime I put my hand in the tank. The new owner of her has actually bled from the bites. I did try to pair them up but it was very difficult. The female was about 5 inches and the male was about 1 inch. I ended up having to put them both in a 10 gallon tank with a screen divider that the small clown could swim underneath to "his side" when attacked by the female. When they were close the male would look like he was having a seizure which signifies his submission. I think eventually she ended up killing him even after I thought they paired up. There was a great clownfish webpage that I got my info from but I can't seem to find it. If I do, I'll post it here for you.

I just read that there are two different types of Maroon: the yellow banded one and the regular one. Are they both equally aggressive? I'm pretty sure i don't have the yellow banded one.

Just the two maroons in the 10 gallon. They eventually were in the main tank with other fish
