Marine epoxy that works?

I've tried 3 different marine safe epoxies, all of which you can supposedly use underwater, and not a dang one of them is worth a dern. Of the 10 pieces I have attempted to glue down, only 4 are still stuck. I seem to have the most problem with zoas, as they are difficult to press into the stuff without hurting them.

Perhapsp I should use superglue? I ahve 3 very small frags (about 5-10 polyps each) that I was wanting to glue to rock, but now I think that I want to stick them to the back wall. Is the superglue gell really reef safe, and able to be applied underwater?

Yup, for zoas, superglue gel works best. Dry the mat off, apply the gel, and then quickly stick it underwater where you want em.

oh come on Les whats a little toxin :)

actually if you have brown button polyps I found several articles on the web that say they have some of the strongest neotoxins and could kill you within 30 mins.... I have had mine for a 3yrs but after reading that I no longer use a toothbrush on them to clean them LOL...

Well that wouldn't be a problem unless you are sharing it with them.

Oddly enough, I do have some Big Ol' brown button polyps, and just the other day I was messing about with them after having cut my hand slightly on the rock... as well as breaking off a small frag of an orange zoa. I feel my luck running out... Better buy some gloves quick!

Ok, next question about this: if it is bad for corals to be exposed to air, how do I go about drying of the strata with exposing it? (especially difficult for the small frags I am working with, as they are on slivers of rice coral...)

Excellent! Many thanks.

Final question (I promise!): Is there a brand of "superglue gel" that is more marine safe than the others? (I worry about the "Kleenex" effect, where not every facial tissue is Kleenex brand... know what I mean?)

I use dollar store brand super glue gel, and have several tubes worth of the stuff in my tank at this point, with no ill effects...

One addendum to corals out of water - LPS... They'll do fine for a period out of water, but be sure to turn them upside down while still in the tank, and gently fan the polyps to get them to retract before removing from the water. If you just grab a LPS and remove it from the water right side up, there's a chance the water filled polyps will slump over the side of the skeleton, causing the polyps to get torn or cut...
