March Club Meeting questions and comments

Set your calendars now to attend our Apex meeting. RussM is flying in to talk about Neptune System's Apex controller, how to program it and answer your every question.

Bio:
Russ Michel was a long-time freshwater aquarist before he finally took the saltwater plunge in 2005, and never looked back. Being a “road warrior” IT consultant, away from home frequently, Russ jumped on the aquarium automation/controller bandwagon early on with a Neptune AC3, and almost immediately came to consider an aquarium controller system to be an essential component of our aquarium setups.

Post any questions or comments you may have here and we will get them to Russ before the meeting so he can prepare to address all issues. We want to make sure that this meeting brings value for your time on a Saturday. The raffle will be apex items only, so it is an all Apex event.

I have AT&T Internet and would like to know what port to use for yahoo email notifications. I have full control of the apex from my iPhone and iPad but can,t get emails to work. Ugh

REALLY hope I can make this and have everyone say "who is that" he has never been to a meeting..lol This should really be a good informative meeting. Good job putting this together!! [smilie=clapping.gif]

I've been waiting for this for quite some time.... So glad it's finally happening, can't wait!

I couldn't ever get the email notifications to work either. I also never figured out the third party hosting needed to access my apex away from home.

If you happen to have Verizon FIOS at home this part actually isn't that hard. You can use Verizon's email servers to send the message from the free email account that comes with the service. If you have AT&T or some other service provider, then I'm not sure. Sorry. [smilie=smile.gif]

This part is probably the most complicated aspect of the Apex for anyone not familiar with computer networking and DNS. It's probably the biggest reason so many people are excited about the new Apex Fusion release.

Hopefully he will cover some of the basics -- how to program some simple functions. Maybe a few handouts with the codes listed so someone could get home and plug them into their apex and get lights, fans, etc to turn on and off. (I would like to use mine for more than just a power strip).

yes 1-4 pm... I hope we can do a video on this one, so we all can reference back to it as a resource... Also, if you have upgraded to the Beta version it would be great to hear from you on how it is working.

I upgraded to the new beta version and had a lot of trouble when flashing. The controller would reboot and not be able to access. I finally had to call Neptune and they were able to get the upgrade through to my controller after about 2 hours. Now that it is loaded working great as always. A few bugs that are still being worked out. Fusion is close to being released.. [smilie=clapping.gif]
