Mandarins Male & Female fighting UPDATE

So the lights came on and I see this commotion in the rocks. The ORA mandarins, which have gotten bigger, are mouth to mouth combat? Later they moved it to the front of the tank and I was able to catch this. What the heck are they doing? Lovers quarrel?? I've never seen this behavior in them before. Normally they have a definite routine... Mornings: food hunting -female hangs out in the back right, male in the front left... Evening: They're together in the front left food hunting. Not today.

Anybody seen their male and female mandarins do this?

that is crazy! they were saying they dont hunt as much as wild caught ones so maybe they are bored and are seeing too much of each other, lol, who knows!?!? lol...good luck with them, i hope nothing happens to one or the other. i have been considering getting a pair too but maybe i should only grab one. hmmmm....

The male is still chasing the female around but not as aggressively and not as often, and once in a while I see them "hanging out" eating/hunting together. The female's tail fin is a bit chewed up from this ordeal, while the male is looking like a rose. Yesterday I got a good look at her and she looked pretty healthy with a full tummy. HOWEVER, today her stomach looked really bloated. My first thought, oh man she's sick. But she was moving around and eating like nothing was wrong. I did some research and found where that big belly may be carrying eggs. Why don't fish come with manuals? [smilie=thinking.gif] It'd make life so much easier.
