What makes Mg rise?
I am seeing a trend the last few weeks. 1300, 1440, 1480
Tank about 6 weeks new. Water Changes 20% weekly.
Current Parameters:
Salinity 1.024
Red Sea Pro Tests
Calcium 440
Alkalinity 9.2
Magnesium 1480
Phosphate 0.08
Nitrate 3
Salifert Tests
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
API Test
PH 8
 
Try a different magnesium test or have your LFS check it and compare. Been lots of talk about the red sea mag test.
 
If you are doing 20 % water changes weekly that will do it. What is mg level of the water change water. Mg is consumed pretty slowly in reef tanks

Well I've never checked chemistry of new water other than Salinity. I buy RO water and add Red Sea Coral Pro salt to it. I will check it tonight.
I check all the parameters of the tank prior to water change.
I probably should have stated this prior. The tank is a Fluval Edge 6g. I figure LR and Sand leaves me a water volume around 5g. Filtration is limited to a AquaClear 20 running just sponge, that is why I change 1g weekly.
 
Personally I would run just reg red sea salt not pro if you are gonna do water changes weekly.
