magnesium chloride & magnesium test kits

I know that bulk reef supply has the mag flake, but can I get something locally to mix with epsom salts? Is anyone successfully using anything else?

Also, is the Salifert magnesium test kit the best? I don't like the guessing game I have had to play with magnesium tests in the past!

Thanks!
David

You might read rhf article on Epsom salt as it boosts sulfates if you need to use a lot of Epsom salt to maintain mg

OK, so do you recommend using just mag flakes? I could do that! Is anyone still using the snow melt products, or strictly the bulk reef supply stuff?

Mix 5 Cups Magnesium Chloride to 3 Cups Magnesium Sulfate(Epsom salt) in one gallon water. I guess the safest thing is just buy the Mag Chloride from BRS. Lower chance of contaminants.
I use Elos Mag test.. nice and clear results.. I like them.. never used the salifert.
