Just got a mag 7 and this thing is loudd

It humms really loud and I can hear the impeller grinding a little bit.

Any way to make it more quiet?? Does it run better once hooked up to plumbing? I have it just running in the bathtub right now.
 
It'll run more quietly in saltwater and with plumbing.
 
And make sure the impeller is sitting just right...I just changed my Mag 3 out for a Mag 5, I thought the mag 5 was broken it was so loud. I opened it and found the impeller was not quite pushed in all the way.

I had to seal my Mag 5 with silicone once I opened the housing it sprung a leak.

Is there a pump out there that is more quiet? Ehiem?

Is this a good alternative to the Mag 7? And much more quiet right? Just more expensive I guess?

Eheim 1262 Pump

I have a 60g cube. Will the 1262 be overkill?

Also do these pumps have a way to direct to pvc? Or Do I have to get some hose barb adaptor or something?
