Lyretail Anthias

I bought 7 Lyretail Anthias (6 female and 1 male). All was fine until now that one more decided to become a male and possibly another on the way - I think. They get a little aggressive at times with one another but not to the point of harming each other, more like marking their territory as well as claiming the remaining females.

Should I worry? Get one of them out? and Is this normal?

Thanks

The two males will fight, and eventually one will win. But it's probably going to take some time for that to happen.

Thanks Marc. I was hoping for them to be OK since they are in a large tank. If I can catch one of them it will be up for sale or trade.

We have kept lyretail anthias for quite a while and we always lose some while they are establishing their pecking order. We even had a female that was changing to male and hurt their eye and changed back!!

I didn't know that they can change back, interesting. Thanks for the info. So far the aggression has stopped. They even swim together at feeding time.

It is interesting. I had an beautiful little initial phase male flasher wrasse that changed back to a female when a terminal phase male was added to the tank. Better to revert than to battle!!

The aggression stopped and each stays on his side of the tank unless is feeding time. The new male won as he recruited 3-4 of the females and stay on their side too.
