i bought an ebay unit and i have mixed opinions. Dont buy a 100 gpd unit. The difference in 75 and 100 i have read at least with dow membranes (filmtec) is the 100gpd has a 90% rejection rate and the 75 has a 98% rejection rate so do the math. But my unit is a 100gpd which i wish i had read up on and i am getting 2 ppm tds by my meter which probably needs calibration. The number has been dropping though.

If you want the best buy one from marc "melev". I bought one and his customer service was amazing. Good price and easy instructions. He sells them on his website. Best investment I have made yet.

FYI - several units are Ebay are dirt cheap. I've referred people on a budget to buy from there. However, you can talk to several vendors about those products. A club member brought one over and we tried to make it work and still couldn't resolve the issues. We completely tore it apart trying to find the source of the problem, and the lowest we could get TDS out of the membrane was 40.

Something about them appears to go wrong, sometimes immediately, sometimes a few months later. When talking with another vendor, he too agreed that he's constantly informed by people encountering this problem. They seem to work great as soon as they are installed, but six months later people begin to notice that the unit no longer functions properly, and repairing them or replacing their contents with new filters and a membrane is more expensive than the original unit.

Am I trying to scare you? No. You may even buy a great system at an unbelievable price, something we all hope to achieve on occasion. However, there is a distinct possibility you will not be happy long term. Just keep that in mind, read the feedback carefully and try to shop smart.

I don't believe people can provide feedback six months later, but odds are you can find discussion boards with comments on various products - Google is your friend.

I agree here definately look at the specs. However, dont rule out a 100gpd because if you encounter a problem you may need to make water fast. Or make sure you have alot on hand.
Good luck.

i would rather have the 75 gpd unit for the better rejection rate but it will make it somewhat faster. As to what marc is saying wouldnt it be just as easy to just replace the membrane if you are having those types of problems. You can get a dow filmtech 75gpd membrane for 35 bucks online. unless they are not really dow membranes i dont see the problem. I read up on my unit before i bought it and found many people that were satisfied with them. Noting they are the best on getting ultra pure water but heck 2 ppm tds is better than what i am buying at a lfs. I used my handheld tds meter and found the best at 20 ppm and the worst at 150 which is hardly filtered. for 100 bucks plus a few fittings i feel it was a good deal not to mention i found a 3.2g ro bladder tank at a thrift store for $2  dont regret it at all but in a year or so i will probably get a 75gpd filmtec and a new restrictor.

I found this one also. Kinda leaning towards the 75gpd.

Any comments about this one gonna pull the trigger Monday.

Thanks again, Shane

Get one from Marc if he still sells them. I got mine from him about 4 years ago and love it. Once a year I order new filter elements from his website and they are at my front door a week latter.

You will not be dissapointed with the product he sells!

4 years and still working?

I'm sold, I'll be placing an order late next week.

I'm thinking of setting it up in my laundry room, with the output going to a large trash can and the waste line to the drain.

@Nazrac wrote:
why wouldnt any of them not work after 4 years as long as you replace the filters/membrane/resin. said:
Four years and nothing went wrong with any of the attachments, check valves, etc.

That and I'm looking for a unit where I only need to replace filters annually, and the membranes maybe every other year or so.

Not sure if you have found anything, but I bought one of these several years ago and still using it.

The only thing I have had to replace besides filters is the ball valve restrictor.

The guy is really good about answering questions as well.
He also has a 150gpd...http://tinyurl.com/322xl3

I replaced the ball vavle about 2 years ago. $3 from HD.

Think I paid $150 for it new. Very good investment.

Oh. I can get 000-001 on my TDS meter with new filters....

I know I'm quoting myself but...

I called the number on this website and spoke with a guy and he said..There is a LIFETIME warranty on all parts and sells all replacement filters. He also says and I quote "YOU WILL GET 0 TDS with this system. I then asked him is there a price difference between the 75 and 100 gpd and he said NO!.... He also said for reef applications the 75gpd is better because it has a better cleaning factor.... The connectors are free also just choose between faucet and garden hose.

What a bargin......just thought I'd pass it on..

Now If I could only find a Fish trap........

the unit tony mac was refering to is simmilar to the one i bought. Same seller but i bought the one with 2 di canisters and no post filter carbon filter. Works ok but wish i would have know about the difference between the 100 gpd and 75 gpd membranes. Like i said before and what that other seller said much better rejection rate.

Ordered the unit yesterday Will be here on Monday. Cost 175.00 Shipped. I asked the guy again Zero tds? He said yes I "guarantee that"

I know you already purchased, but thought I would reccomend the ebay store I've bought all of my units, accessories and replacement filters.

It's called Aqua-Safe Pure Water store.

The TDS meter: $24.99 http://cgi.ebay.com/AQUA-SAFE-TDS-METER-FOR-REVERSE-OSMOSIS-SYSTEMS_W0QQitemZ4425600346QQihZ008QQcategoryZ20684QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
The case of filers: $54.50 http://cgi.ebay.com/CASE-OF-21-PRE-AND-POST-RO-DI-WATER-FILTERS_W0QQitemZ150194990860QQihZ005QQcategoryZ20684QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

Depending on the amount of combined shipping you’re looking at right around $210 or so shipped for all of the above. GOOD DEAL!

Got my unit in Monday...Hooked it up...SUPER EASY. No drilling pipe tape nothing and let the release valve open for 10 mins and guess what?

0 TDS...Yep Zero!!!!

It even has the guys Phone number and it states "LIFETIME WARRANTY on PARTS" right on the side. Wow what a bargin 75gpd for better filtration than the 100gpd and all for 175.00 Shipped to my door. The guy even sells all replacement filters and has been in business for over 20 years. I'm VERY pleased.

I've had Marcs unit for 2-3 years now and I have not had one problem. I love it. I am starting to get 3-4 ppm so I do need to change the DI out but still very happy with it! he was great taking care of me when I first ordered it too!
