Looking for pass through wall suggestions....

Currently I have a 5x5 hole in the wall between the tank room and the utility room. Since the frag tank is sliding down the wall a bit, the hole itself will be exposed. I am looking for some creative suggestions on how to 'prettify' up the hole. It will have pvc still going through it... but something to make it look cleaner would be appreciated. I had thought about something like a doggy door type deal....

You can see it to the right...

are you looking for something that is easily removable? If not you could fill it with drywall. said:
I think your misunderstanding.. the hole will still be there as I will still have pvc going through it, I just want something that will clean up the hole so its not ragged like that.

Not looking to patch it up :)

you could patch it and leave the pipe there. the pipe will be snug on the patch with no gap. It would look like the pipe just sticks through the wall

Might need to add more 'things' at some point though.

Can you get some more of the chair rail that's above it? Just use it to frame the hole out? It'd draw attention TO the hole, but the edges would look nice at least...

It's hard to tell for sure how big the hole is (or how much room you'll need in the future), but what about a length of 3" or 4" PVC through the hole, and then patch the drywall up to the edge of the PVC?

I did something similar with 2" PVC behind a wall-mounted TV recently, for much the same reason (all the gear is on the other side). Once patched and painted, it looked pretty much intentional :) You could spray the inside of the PVC with some flat black Krylon Fusion first to minimize the visual impact a bit further.

Yeah PVC was a thought... I'll think about that a bit. I was hoping for something like a desk gromet (rubber) that could mold around the holes. When the fuge light is on in the utility room you an see it at night in coming through that hole.

This might sound silly, but how 'bout a heavy black curtain?

Maybe make a curtain of tassels so it can "flow" around the pipe, and anything else that you might add later?

you might try painting the pipe with matching paint to your wall and use a simple 90 degree trim molding from home depot and miter cut and trim the cut out. why try to mask it just try to make it less obvious

hmm maybe if the hole is near a wall stud use an electrical box and face plate with an aquarium bulkhead mounted on the face plate. That way the faceplate will cover the hole and look like a normal wall plate and block any light from the either side. The electrical box with the back cut out mounted to the wall will provide the wall plate with a stable mount.

How about a wine rack(?) and the pipe comes through where one bottle would go. Add more as you wish.
