looking for info

I have a 34 gallon Red Sea Max with a single 250 MH pendant and a 20k bulb. I have never have tried SPS before. Here is what I would like to know. Also I do not have a heat problem the pendant is about 10 to 11" off the surface of the water. I am holding 78.9 to 79.6 degrees in temp during the day and at night.

1. Is this light bright enough? I am thinking yes with 7.38 watts per gallon.
2. Is the 20k bulb ok?
3. Is there anything else I need to look for?
4. The flow would be from the two stck pumps and a korilla #1. Not sure it is the correct spelling.

Your wattage is adequate, you may look at a lower K value bulb depending on what you want to accomplish with the SPS. The higher K values look good according to some but seem to produce lower/slower growth. Flow is very important and rates of 20-50 time tank volume are common now. The flow is not what is going through the sump/fug, that flow rate is generally still in the 3-5 times tank volume. The extra flow is generally provide by closed loops systems or internal powerheads.

Only thing I would add to the above is when you place the coral, start it at the bottom and gradually raise it to the place you will adhere it to. Otherwise leave it unattached so you can alter its location if it doesn't like the flow or light in a certain location.

Welcome to the addiction!

I just want to say thanks to a member on here for taking the time to give me the info needed. Also thanks for the starter frag to try with.
