Looking for good float swithes

Has anyone had good luck with purchasing float sensors? I purchased 4 from Chicago sensors/aquahub and they lasted me about a month. If you have had any luck with a particular brand please let me know.
Thanks

Well I just bought:

i-float Float Switch
Brand: aquahub Item Number: FLT001
Price: $6.49

I bought it from Aquahub. I hope I get more than a month from it. It seems to work off of a magnet...so it should be very reliable. Mine has been in my sump for like three days.

That will really suck if I can only get a month out of them.

I'll definately keep up with this thread just in case someoen comes up with a good switch. If mine only lasts a month, at least I'll have something lined up.

Maybe you can describe or draw out your system with pump, relay, or whatever. If it's a faulty design, maybe someone here can find what's wrong.

I went to Marks site and did what he suggested for a auto top of system using a extenstion cord. It is very simple. Anyone have another idea?

Ahh, depending on the pump you're using, spiking current can cause the switch to fail (especially if you don't use a relay and a slosh guard.)

This from aquahub's website..

Well depending on where on Marc's site an which configuration he's using, he may be OK. Need more info to accurately troubleshoot.

Here's what I used...only 3 watts...seems to work great so far and cheap too.

The below site had the best specs on it...but I bought mine with the switch so it was a little more expensive.

Bill, you may also want to get a relay and a 12v power brick- I'd be happy to help you get it wired up- this would let you keep from having 120v running through a switch in your tank.

I never thought about the 120V/15 amp tied directly in my sump! But then again, I guess it's not any more dangerous than my pump, heater, skimmer pump, power heads etc.

The relay would be a good safety device though. No need to introduce more danger than you have to.
