Looking for DIY 2 part dosing SYSTEM ideas

Did you make it to the Saturday meeting last week? The speaker, Greg Hiller, spent a bunch of time on setting up and making your own dosing systems. I'm sure we can still get any questions to him that you want. His basic approach was the same as Randy's two/three part with a few twists.

What exactly are you asking?

Most people mix in a jug of some sort (water bottle, etc) and use a measuring device and pour into tank.

You can check Bulk Reef Supply as they have 2 part kits with all the tools to measure. and even have a calculator for their products.

I know some people dose half of what they are suppose to dose and do the other part over night.

Are you trying to Automate this? cause that is not what your asking. Their are may ways to handle alk, ca dosing (CA Reactor, Kalk Reactor, Dosing Units) What is your budget on the equipment? (not gonna type all of it)

Sorry for the confusion... I need a DIY dosing SYSTEM for my 2 part b-ionic . said:
Off the top of my head, I can't think of an all-in-one system that you can buy already put together; you're pretty much going to have to put the system together yourself. Not sure what you consider a "system", but most 2-part dosing setups consist of the following:

- a reservoir for each part (I use two 2-liter soda bottles)
- 2 dosing pumps (I use two of the Drew's Dosing Pumps that Bulk Reef Supply sells)
- enough airline tubing to get everything plumbed together
- a timer (preferably digital with 1-minute precision) to turn the pumps on/off accordingly. If you have a sump, you could probably get by with one timer and have it control both pumps. Just make sure the pumps dump the supplement into different parts of your sump.

In my tank, I dose 72 ml of each part per day, so the 2-liter bottles last just under a month between fill-ups. Below is a pic of the pumps and my reservoirs:

From the above, you can get "fancier" by going with standalone pumps that have built-in timers. These are more expensive, but you won't need to get separate timers to control the pumps. If you have a controller, you could also have it control the pumps, as I do with my Aquacontroller 3.

The pumps are $89.99 each (link below) and pump approximately 1.6 mL/minute, but they vary from pump to pump, so you'll have to test it to see what kind of volume transfer you're getting. Mine happen to pump at 1.1 mL/minute, so I have to run my pumps for a total of 65 minutes per day to get 72 mL.

i use two aqualifter pumps on timers. Plus i use airline valves for throttling down to make it more manageable.
